Hwang Young Min, known professionally as Tim, is an American-born singer based in South Korea. He was born in Philadelphia, USA and he was raised in a Christian family with his father being a pastor. He was exposed to a musical environment early on as a child learning to play various instruments like the saxophone and piano. However, until he was picked up by an entertainment agency, he had never thought of becoming a professional singer. During high school he was also a model and acted in small roles. In 2001, the son of a fellow church member was a South Korean producer who requested Tim to fly to Seoul for a full audition, which he passed. He spent two years learning the language and then preparing for his debut album. He met Lee Yoon Sang who wrote "I Love You" which launched his career and began giving him great recognition in the local pop music market. In 2020 he married businesswoman Kim Bo Ra and the couple had a son in 2022.
