Steven Yeun (Born: Yeun Sang Yeop) is a Korean American actor best known for portraying Glenn Rhee in the US TV series, The Walking Dead. Steven Yeun was born in Seoul, South Korea and his family first immigrated to Canada and stayed there for one year before moving to United States when Yeun was 6 years old. He grew up in a suburb of Detroit where his parents owned beauty supply stores, and stayed in Michigan to attend Kalamazoo College as a psychology major. There, he became involved in an improv comedy group, and discovered his love for acting.
Yeun revealed to his parents that he planned to pursue an improv career in Chicago, Illinois instead of enrolling in law school or medical school. While unhappy with his decision, his parents were supportive and gave him two years to pursue acting. He spent the next four years doing sketch comedy until moving to Los Angeles in 2009 to pursue screen acting. He earned various roles in The Big Bang Theory (as Sebastian), My Name is Jerry (as Chaz) and different commercials for Best Buy, Apple, and Milky Way, but shot to fame with his role as part of the main cast of the popular show The Walking Dead, beginning in 2010 and ending in 2017.
In 2018, he landed a supporting role in the acclaimed South Korean film Burning (starring Yoo Ah In), and has won multiple North American awards and nominations for his performance, along with nominations for Best Supporting Actor in the Grand Bell and Blue Dragon Awards. He currently lives in Los Angeles.
