Hwang So Yoon, also known professionally as So!YoON! is a South Korean singer, songwriter and member of the indie rock band Se So Neon. She was exposed to music from a very young age but from all instruments, she preferred the guitar, which she began playing since elementary school. She grew up in a very rural area of South Korea so she attended the only school in the area, Jecheon Gandhi School, from elementary school until high school. She posted her initial songs on Youtube and Facebook when she was 18. At the same time, she decided to form a band and began looking for musicians. In 2016, she created the indie rock band Se So Neon (which literally means "new kids" or "new boys"). The name came after she found an old copy of a defunct children’s magazine called "Sae So Nyeon" in a bookstore. She is the vocalist and lead guitarist of the band and was joined by Gangto and Fancy Moon and released their first EP "Summer Plumage" in 2017. The band won the Rookie of the Year and Best Rock Song awards at the 2018 Korean Music Awards. At the end of that year, Gangto and Fancy Moon left the band to complete their mandatory military service and Hwang looked for new band members which she found in 2019 when bassist Park Hyun Jin and drummer U-Su joined her. The band released an EP in 2020 called "Non-adaptation" and continue to appear in many music shows. Hwang also appeared in the second season of "Kick a Goal" playing in FC Wonder Woman and having a great connection with singer Song So Hee. She had to quit after the season to continue promoting with the band.
