Kim Hyun Jung, known professionally as Shin Gi Ru, is a South Korean comedian. She graduated from Younghwa International Tourism High School and later obtained a bachelor’s degree from Seoul Arts College. She made her debut in 2005 as part of KBS "Laughter Club" with other comedians with very little or no experience. She kept performing under her birth name until she began appearing in "People Looking for a Laugh" in 2007 when she thought her name was fairly common so she began using her stage name Shin Gi Ru. In 2010, she won the Newcomer Award for Gag Woman at the 18th Korean Culture and Entertainment Awards. She moved to "Comedy Big League" in 2013 where she has appeared frequently. She often jokes about having debuted long time ago but barely been recognized on any TV show.
