Matthew is an actor based in Halifax, Canada. Raised in Toronto, Matthew started performing at the age of six and began working professionally when he was 12. Trained in singing, dance and acting, he began his career in musical theatre, playing son Nathan in The Full Monty (2007) and John Darling in Ross Petty’s Peter Pan (2008). In his teenage years, he transitioned to film and television with shows such as Degrassi: The Next Generation (2009) and Unnatural History (2010). After graduating from St. Francis Xavier University with a degree in Economics, Matthew went on a scholarship program to Beijing, China to study Mandarin Chinese. During his 5 years in China, Matthew worked as a bilingual actor in numerous Chinese television shows and movies including Te Jing Dui (2019), Winter Begonia (2020) and Leap (2020). During his time in China, Matthew also trained in martial arts and became proficient in film stunts and screen combat. In 2020 Matthew returned to Canada to continue his North American film career. Recent work includes roles in CBC’s original drama Feudal (2021) and the Stephen King adaptation Chapelwaite (2021). Matthew is represented by Ciel Crosby at Sky Talent Group.
