Lim Hee Sook is a South Korean singer. When she was in her sophomore year at Dukseong Girls’ High School, she made her debut in 1966 with the "Lonely Hut". She later made her official debut with the song "The Man Is Leaving" in 1969 and then graduated from Hanyang University with a bachelor’s degree in Film. She has had numerous hits and because of her emotional performances and her excellent ability to interpret songs, she has been called the Godmother of Soul.
She was also embroiled in the cannabis controversy in 1975 when it hit the entertainment industry hard. She had been working with singers who have smoked marijuana but she claimed that she never smoked it. However, she decided to take a five-year hiatus. However, since that incident her activities have been very sporadic until she released a new song called "Try It" in 2015.
