Lee Man Ki is a South Korean professor, writer, politician, TV personality and former ssireum wrestler. In 1983, he won his 1st Cheonha Janga Ssireum competition when he was studying to obtain his bachelor’s degree at Kyungnam University. In 1989, he obtained a master’s degree from the same university and in 2001 he graduated from Chung-Ang University with a Ph.D., all his degrees are in Physical Education.
In the 1980’s he was one of the top three ssireum wrestlers in South Korea and his winning percentage reached 86.5%, except against Kang Ho Dong, who beat him 4 out of the 6 times they wrestled. After retiring, he was in charge of the Ssireum Team at Inje University and later, he was appointed as a professor there. He also became involved in politics and has been part of sports committees and regional elections since 2004. He is married to former Olympic judoka, Hyun Sook Hee.
