Kim Tae Ri is a South Korean model and actress managed by J.Wide Company. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Broadcasting from Kyunghee University. She was active in a theater company and appeared in several short films from 2012 to 2013. She modeled in TV commercials, with The Body Shop in 2014.
She appeared in the film industry in 2016 and was thrust into the spotlight for her role in Park Chan Wook’s film “The Handmaiden”. She was chosen from among 1,500 candidates who auditioned for the role. After the end of “Mr. Sunshine”, she took a short break and went to the UK to study abroad training and learned English. She returned to Korea after about half a year.
She won numerous best new actress awards, and in 2018, she won the “Popular Movie Actress Category” by 18th Korea Youth Film Festival, and “Actress of the Year Award” by 18th Director’s Cut Awards. With her great acting, she received a Commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism at The 9th Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards in 2018.
Other than doing acting activities, she also sang OSTs for “The Handmaiden”, End of the century song (2016), and “1987”, The Hidden Road – Yeonhee (2018). She also made some appearances in music videos from 2010 to 2014. She was placed 23rd for 2019 Forbes Korea Power Celebrity.
