Kim Joo Won is a South Korean prima ballerina. She began to study ballet when she was 12 and then completed her training at the Bolshoi Ballet School in Moscow in 1998. That same year, she joined the Korean National Ballet where she soon gained the distinction of prima ballerina taking the lead roles in "Giselle", "Swan Lake", "Don Quixote", and many more. Between 1998 and 2012, she performed approximately 100 times per year. After 15 years, she left the Korean National Ballet although she continues to dance as a guest principal dancer but now focuses on musicals, pop art and fashion. She has received numerous international prizes such as the top female dancer award at the 2006 ballet competition "Benoit de la Danse" in Moscow.
