Joo Jin, known professionally by the Western version of her name, Jin Ju and also as Pearl, is a South Korean singer and professor. She graduated from Samsung High School and later obtained a bachelor’s degree from Dongduk Women’s University. She also has three master’s degrees from the Korea University (Graduate School of Law), Ewha Womans University (Graduate School of Art), and Sangmyung University (Graduate School of New Media).
She made her official debut in 1997 under JYP Entertainment with the full-length album "Sunflower" with a mixture of pop, R&B and hip-hop. She left JYP in 2010 and later signed with Follow Entertainment. In 2017, she released a special extended play, also titled "Sunflower", to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her debut. In 2018, she became a full-time professor in the Department of Applied Music at Jeonghwa Arts University and has very few appearances on TV.
