Jung Yong Tae, known professionally as Ji Woo, is a South Korean singer, producer, lyricist, university professor and main vocalist of the band Emerald Castle. He graduated from Hoseo University with a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music and later obtained a master’s degree in Popular Culture Production Management from Dankook University. He made his debut in 1991 when he won the gold medal at the MBC College Song Festival. He released his first solo album the following year but it was not successful and he suspended all activities to complete his mandatory military service. In 1997, he re-debuted as part of a rock band called Emerald Castle which was created by N.EX.T’s vocalist Shin Hae Chul and bassist Kim Young Seok. He left the band shortly after their second album as the agency faced severe problems due to the International Monetary Fund crisis and couldn’t afford to pay him anything. The band has undergone several changes but some reunited in 2015 for season 1 of "Two Yoo Project Sugar Man" where they performed one of their most popular song, "Footsteps". He currently teaches Practical Music at his alma mater and is working on a solo album.
