Born in Seoul in 1928, her real name is Hwang Young Hee. After she finished Gyeonggi Girls’ High School, she applied for the 2nd Actress Recruitment hosted by Koryo Film Company, and she was selected as No. 1, and she played the role of Lee Hye Ja in Director Choi In Gyu’s ‘Viva Freedom!’ (1946). Her appearance attracted attention. She then starred in the same director’s ‘An Innocent Criminal’ (1948), and she left the screen for a while with her marriage.
She later appeared in ‘A Bouquet of Thirty Million People’ (1951) at the request of Bok Hye Suk while she was living in Jinhae during the war, and this work became her last cast. She said that in the mid-1960s she ran a “lady’s coffee shop” in front of Ewha Women’s’ University, and she was widowed in 1986 after her husband, Park Dong Hyun, a former professor at Duksung Women’s University passed away.
