Hong Ri Na was born in 1968 and made her debut in the youth drama “Blue Classroom” in 1987.
In 1988 she was in a traffic accident, but returned to acting within a year in the KBS drama “Guest in Autumn”.
In 1997 while working on the MBC drama “Mountain” she had a major accident when filming a scene of a suicide and one of her ropes was cut causing her to fall roughly 30 meters. This resulted in severe bruising, a broken ankle, and serious spinal injury. She received treatment for two years, but only 10 months after the incident she was back to acting in the drama “King Of The Wind”. During her healing process, she was able to claim 1 billion Won in damages from MBC.
In 2006, she married Bae Jung Won, a businessman from Silicon Valley, USA. She has a Catholic christened name of Katarina.
