Born in Beijing, Cong Shan is a Chinese actress of French nationality.
She made her official debut in 1981, during her first year at the Central Academy of Drama, when she was chosen to play in the movie "Herdsman". For this role the following year she won a nomination for the Best Actress Award at the Golden Rooster Awards.
In 1987, thanks to a scholarship issued by the French government, she moved to France to study drama, but in 1992 returned to China to join the movie "Qiu Jin", without completing her studies.
