Cho Young Gu is a South Korean MC, professor, singer and businessman. He graduated from Chungju Daewon High School and later obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Chungbuk National University and a master’s degree in Mass Media Studies from Sungkyunkwan University. He started his career as a trot singer but was eliminated in the preliminaries of the 1987 MBC College Song Festival. He then participated in a 1991 regional event of "Korea Sings" but later, decided to focus on other activities. In 1994, he made his debut as an MC after being selected in the 1st special recruitment for MCs at SBS.
He appeared as the MC of SBS’s "Midnight TV Entertainment" for 19 years from 1997 until the show ended in 2016. Later that year, he was involved in an incident while reporting the disbandment of Sechs Kies. His car was similar to the CEO of DSP Media so two fans destroyed it out of rage. He was compensated by the CEO himself as both fans were minors, but singer Eun Ji Won misunderstood the situation and for weeks claimed Cho did this just to get a new car and the compensation money, but they managed to clear their issues after talking in-person.
He is a close friend of Kim Gu Ra and he appeared in many episodes of "My Little Television" with him. Outside of entertainment, he is an adjunct professor at Woosong Institute of Technology since 2004 and at the Seoul National University of Arts since 2011. He also runs a successful moving and cleaning business, now with over 300 branches across the country, and is also an investor at his manager’s pizza restaurants.
