Go Yoon Jung’s Upcoming Drama “Resident Playbook” Postpones Broadcast Schedule

tvN’s upcoming “Hospital Playlist” spin-off drama “Resident Playbook” (working title) has adjusted its broadcast schedule.

On March 21, OSEN reported that tvN has opted to postpone the airing of “Resident Playbook” to the second half of the year, despite the drama originally slated as “Queen of Tears” successor. Consequently, “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon” (previously known as “Graduation”), starring Jung Ryeo Won and Wi Ha Joon, is now set to premiere on May 11 as a follow-up to “Queen of Tears.”

In response to the report, a representative from tvN confirmed, “‘The Midnight Romance in Hagwon’ will air after ‘Queen of Tears’ concludes. ‘Resident Playbook’ is slated for broadcast in the latter half of the year, with the exact timing yet to be determined.”

Initially, “Resident Playbook” was slated for release in the first half of the year, with a specific mention of a May premiere during the “MEET&GROW 2024” event hosted by CJENM in January. However, concerns arose following the recent wave of mass resignations among medical residents, causing significant staffing shortages in major hospitals. Given that the drama centers around residents, these developments prompted deliberation over its timing.

tvN also acknowledged, “Recent developments were indeed taken into account among various factors that influenced the decision to schedule ‘Resident Playbook’ for the latter half of the year.”

“Resident Playbook” depicts the realistic and relatable hospital lives and turbulent friendships of doctors and residents at the Jongro branch of Yulje Medical Center. Director Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung, who produced the “Reply” series and the “Hospital Playlist” series, will participate as creators in the new project. The drama has previously confirmed Go Yoon Jung, Kang You Seok, Shin Si Ah, Han Ye Ji, and Jung Joon Won as cast members.
