The protagonists of the documentary are the director’s wife and his mother, who fight all the time. The couple got married due to an unintended pregnancy. Every day is a battle between the two women. Because the daughter-in-law is bright, free-spirited, and independent from her husband’s family, she comes into conflict with her mother-in-law in everything. The things that look small and minor become big problems in the house.
Myeoneuri: My Son’sCrazy Wife observes the resistance of a young, individualistic woman against the old patriarchal system. It depicts the outdated tradition through self-torturing satire. It’s a bitter satire because the one holding the camera is the husband. The director sometimes joins his wife’s rebellion and sometimes gets annoyed by it. He laments how the two good-hearted women have become enemies.
