A female teacher newly sent to an elementary school at Nakdo, a small island, is called ‘Gasinae’ (a dialect for a girl) by the people there. While teaching the students, she encounters a series of difficulties in dealing with the ignorant islanders. One day, a journalist visits the place and he helps form an affiliation between the elementary school on the island and one in Seoul.
