Fun Facts and Trivia
- Dayeon, Baekah, and Iaan are former members of NEON PUNCH. XUM is their second debut.
Facts
- The group was planned as a sub-unit in order for NeonPunch to continue its activities, however, after its dissolution, the group became independent.
- Just a day after releasing their debut music video, the girl group was criticized for an earlier video in which the members made racially descriptive comments about Filipino, African and Native American heritage. A100 Entertainment issued a statement apologizing for the controversy:
- Hello, we are A100. We issued a statement regarding the recent racist controversy over “DNA VIDEO”. Our company verified the “DNA VIDEO” video and acknowledged that there was a clear racial issue. In the video, we apologize for the fact that XUM members made unpleasant comments about their ancestors because of the subtitles. First, we acknowledge and apologize for the editors’ error in using exaggerated or misleading hyphens, and offensive subtitles. In particular, we apologize for any erroneous or misleading parts of the subtitle translation process. There seems to be no excuse. We bow our heads and apologize for causing you displeasure. We will also be more cautious when making videos in the future and everything else, and we promise this will never happen again. In addition, the video “DNA VIDEO”, which was uploaded on May 14, has been quickly removed, and we would like to apologize for causing so much concern to many fans due to this controversy. Finally, we, A100 and XUM, are against racism and aspire for equality and happiness for everyone. In the future, we will become a better company. We are sorry again.
