- Two new members Shotaro and Sungchan joined the NCT team in 2020 through NCT U.
Facts
- It is the first NCT sub-unit to debut.
- NCT U is the union of the members of NCT, therefore it will not have fixed members and in each comeback the members will change.
- They made their debut in China at the Top Chinese Music Awards, releasing their song “The 7th Sense” on Chinese portals at the same time.
- SM Entertainment announced during the group’s debut that they would not accept any fan support or birthday gifts for NCT U members.
- Win Win and Kun (Chinese members) collaborated with NCT U in their first presentations in China.
- Win Win appears in the music video for “Without You”.
- In less than a day his music video “The 7th Sense” reached 1 million views on YouTube.
- “The 7th Sense” reached #1 on iTunes US, while “Without You” reached the second spot.
- On the April 19 episode of SBS MTV’s “The Show”, on their stage debut, they faced CNBLUE with their 2 singles, “The 7th Sense” and “Whitout You”, placing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
- Became a candidate for first place in a music program, Inkigayo, just after a week since its debut. Competing against Block B and 10cm, NCT U came in 3rd place.
- NCT U won her first award since her debut Best New Artist at the 2016 Asia Model Awards.
- On February 6, 2017, fans flooded the Thailand airport because of NCT U’s arrival for an event. Due to the large number of people it was not possible to take control of the crowd causing injuries among the fans, the worst incident was recorded in a home video which went viral showing how a security guard violently pushed two fans to the ground and pushed the fans away aggressively which generated a huge controversy for abuse of force.
- The company behind the security for NCT U’s airport arrival posted an explanation on their Facebook page claiming total culpability of the fans present who generated the disturbance: After NCT headed to Suvarnabhumi airport, the numerical amount of inconsiderate fans hovered around NCT, which made it almost impossible for the artists to get to the car. This made it very difficult for the guards to do their job, but we would also like to thank the fans who also tried to help clear the way. One fan who was trying to help make way for NCT was pushed hard until his phone hit an artist and he almost fell. T.team would like to thank the fan for his help #wewanttogivethispersonaprize.
- On the variety show Weekly Idol, it was confirmed that NCT U does not have and will not have a leader because the members will constantly change as the themes of the songs change.
- The song Baby Don’t Stop is NCT’s top-ranked song in various music chart rankings of 2018 occupying the following positions:
