Languages
- Korean: all members are able to speak Korean.
- English: Mark and Johnny are the most fluent English speakers in NCT since they were born in English-speaking countries (Canada and US, respectively). Jaehyun can also speak English as he lived in the US for many years. Ten (Thailand) and Lucas (HK), Hendery (Macau) grew up exposed to English in their native countries so they are also able to speak the language well. Yangyang lived in Germany for several years so he can also speak English.
- Japanese: Yuta and Shotaro are native Japanese speakers. Some of the other members can also speak a good level of Japanese as they have promotions in Japan.
- Chinese: Kun, WinWin, Xiaojun, Hendery, Renjun, Chenle, Yangyang, and Lucas can speak native Chinese.

Sub-Units
NCT U
NCT U stands for Neo Culture Technology United. They debuted on April 9, 2016. NCT U has a ‘rotating’ line-up, meaning the members are not fixed and can be changed depending on the concept of the comeback.
NCT 127
127 stands for the coordinates of Seoul in Korea, NCT’s base location. They debuted on July 2016. NCT 127 has ten members: Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark, Haechan, and Winwin.
NCT Dream
This unit is based on age as they are all under 20. They debuted on August 25, 2016. Once members turn 20 years old, they ‘graduate’ and move on to a different NCT sub-unit. NCT Dream originally had seven members: Chenie, Haechan, Jaemin, Jeno, Jisung, Mark, and Renjun. In 2020, the group re-organized into a permanent formation with the original seven members, who take part of rotational promotions.
WayV
WayV stands for We are your Vision. WayV is directed towards the Chinese market as their songs are in Mandarin Chinese. They debuted in China under the label V (SM Chinese label) on January 17, 2019. There are currently seven members: Hendery, Kun, Lucas, Ten, Winwin, Xiao Jun, Yang Yang.
NCT Hollywood
This will be NCT’s latest sub-unit with members from the United States. Males between ages 13 and 25 are being scouted in America to participate in a competition, bootcamp, and training at the SM Campus.

- The youngest member (maknae) of NCT is Jisung (born Feb 5, 2002).
- The tallest member of NCT is Johnny with a height of 184 cm (6’0”).
- The shortest members of NCT are Ten and Renjun with a height of 170 cm (5’7”).
- Two new members Shotaro and Sungchan joined the NCT team in 2020 through NCT U.
Facts
- The members who have already made their debut were part of the SMROOKIES, while the others who have not yet made their debut are still there.
- Yuta, Taeyong and Do Young were models for DESIGN UNITED brand for a six-month contract in 2016, they modeled for that year’s spring and summer collections.
- We have already seen the collaborations between sub-units with the help of Kun and Win Win in the performances in China and in the song “Without You” in the Chinese version, where Kun participates in the song.
- NCT’s (NCT U, Win Win and Kun) first activity has been at Top Chinese Music Awards 2016. They represented the agency together with Lee Soo Man and EXO.
- Mark and Tae Yong participated in the composition of “The 7th Sense”.
- It is said that apart from the members who have not yet made their debut, there are other trainees who have not yet been revealed.
- At the 2016 Gayo Daejun, it was revealed that NCT 127 would make comeback, adding 2 new members to the sub-unit: Do Young and Johnny.
- The agency asked fans for help in coming up with ideas for the name of the fandom, so it was possible to submit ideas to the official NCT website, the winner received a special prize from NCT.
- On June 12, 2017 through their V-app channel, they revealed the name of the fandom together with all NCT members, which is NCTzen.
- NCT127 broke its record by getting 6M views with “Cherry Bomb” in one week.
- On September 24, 2017, NCT receives its first award as a full group (Best Rookies Award) at the 10th Anniversary KMF 2017.
- On January 31, Lucas, Kun and Jung Woo were officially introduced as NCT members through the SMRookies twitter account.
- On January 31, 2018, the official NCT Instagram account was created, counting 9 posts forming the words NCT 2018.
- On February 18, 2018, SMTOWN released “BOSS” (NCT U), which sees the participation of new members in the sub unit – Lucas and Jung Woo, plus Win Win.
- They are nominated in the TRENDING MUSIC AWARS 2018, in the categories of Best New Artist and Best Kpop Male Group.
- “Go Up”, NCT Dream’s upcoming comeback, will be Mark’s last as a member of this sub-unit.
- On November 14, 2018, NCT ranked 9th on GAON’s “KPOP Group Million Sellers” list. The said list reflects sales from 2010 onwards with NCT being the second youngest group to enter selling a total of 1.3 million copies on the said platform just two years after its debut.

- On December 19, 2018, SM announces through an official statement that Haechan will enter a period of rest due to an injury to his right leg, which he sustained while practicing for a performance.
- On December 31, 2018, SM introduces the Chinese group with NCT members, WayV, which debuts in January 2019.
- On December 31, 2018, SM officially introduced Hendery, Xiao Jun and Yang Yang as WayV members.
- In the teaser for NCT’s second album with all members, WayV is officially introduced as a sub-unit of the group.
