Facts
- They were selected as the best debut group in 2011 by Gallup Korea poll and Bugs (one of the most popular music sites in Korea).
- On April Fool’s Day, Happy Face uploaded a false information on the internet about an alleged Dal Shabet sub-unit called “Pink Sugar”, which would consist of Serri, Su Bin and Ah Young. Days later, it was clarified that it was a lie due to April Fool’s Day.
- After Dal Shabet was first announced to the public, in less than 3 days an anti-fan cafe was created with a total of 10,000 members, although the group had not released any photos or songs. After several months and the release of their three hit music videos, “Supa Dupa Diva”, “Pink Rocket” and “Bling Bling”, news emerged that the anti-fan cafe had lost more than 7,000 members.
- Happy Face Entertainment planned to name the group “Dal Sorbete” (Moon Sorbet) which is originally the name of a very famous Korean children’s book. The entertainment agency called the author of the book to get his permission for the use of the name. However, the author of the book “Dal Sorbet” turned them down.
- Dal Shabet traveled to China on September 18, 2011 to attend an event and according to their schedule they were supposed to return on the 20th, but they could not. Because they lost their visas, they had to wait a few more days, but this did not stop the group from enjoying their trip, as they took it just as a new experience.
- In 2011, they held a wedding photo shoot for In Style magazine’s InStyle Wedding section, together with idol Park Jung Min.
- The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) banned “Hit U” due to the use of violence in the MV and any album that includes “banned” songs, cannot be sold to minors and cannot be aired before 22:00 pm.
- They are considered one of the tallest kpop girl groups after 9MUSES.
- On March 28, 2012, the group made an appearance on “Park Myung Soo Mobile TV” where they revealed many curious facts about themselves: “Viki eats chocolates instead of food, Ga Eun goes crazy when she sees a boy in tiger skin print, Ah Young is shy around boys, Ji Yul no matter what she wears, always wears flower-shaped earrings, when Serri is bored she eats salt and Subin is crazy about male idols”.
- With the official departure of Viki (former leader) a new member joined the group Woohee, Ga Eun became the main rapper and Serri the new leader.
- “Be Ambitious” was one of the most searched K-POP videos on Chinese website YinYueTai, even surpassing Youtube in plays.
- They are very close to RAINBOW.
- They were featured in 4MEN’s MV “Love Tonight”, when Viki was there.
- “For Darling” is a song dedicated to their fans. In the MV we can see the members in their daily life.
- Four of the songs on the Mini Album “Be Ambitious” are composed by the members of the group.
- They made a cameo in the drama Dream High.
- Their 7th mini album, B.B.B, has so far been the group’s best-selling and favorite album of 2014.
- On June 23, her agency Happy Face Entretenimient informed Starnews that Subin has been discharged from hospital in Gangnam-gu, Seoul due to an injury.
- They also talked about the delay of their comeback and said, “We are preparing a new album that is scheduled to be released this fall. Nothing has been confirmed yet.
- Ah Young has confirmed his participation in the upcoming MBC drama titled “The Night Watchman”.
- The main cast of The Night Watchman, consists of Jung Il Woo, U-Know Yunho TVXQ (DBSK), Go Sung Hee and Seo Jae Jin. The drama will begin airing in July after MBC’s current Monday-Tuesday drama “Triangle” ends.
- Member Subin has served as producer and songwriter on the entire album “The Joker Is Alive”, including “Joker” and is the first girl group to do so.
- They will make their debut in Japan in the near future.
- It was reported that members Jiyul and Gaeun would leave the group as their contracts had expired.
- Dal Shabet returned as a 4-member group on January 5, 2016.
- After Jiyul and Gaeun’s departure, the four remaining members talked about their comeback without them in an interview. However, they haven’t mentioned anything about Dal Shabet’s “Separation” yet. So currently they might be planning every step in detail. To appear again as a group in the future.
