Members
Blackswan is composed of 4 members born between 1994 and 2003. Their names are Youngheun, Fatou, Judy, Gabi, Sriya, and Leia. The oldest member is Youngheun (born Nov 20, 1994). The youngest member or maknae is Sriya (born Sep 15, 2003).
Currently, all members of BLACKSWAN are foreigners. Former members Yongheun, Hyeme, and Judy are Korean. After they left the group, there were no Korean members in the group. Fatou is from Senegal and Leia is from Brazil. Sriya is from India and Gabi is Brazilian-German.
The group debuted with originally 5 members. One of the original members, Hyeme, left the group soon after the group’s debut following a fraud scandal. Youngheun and Judy, part of the original lineup, graduated from the group on July 31, 2022. Sriya and Gabi joined Blackswan in May 2022.

Fun Facts and Trivia
- Blackswan is a re-debut of the K-pop group Rania, which debuted in 2011.
- Rania had several other reboots in the past and changed their name to Black Pearl Rania in 2016 when a new member Alex, who was African American joined.
- Fatou Samba is from Senegal. She can speak five languages including English, Dutch, Korean, German, and French. Fatou was a model under Cineline Entertainment.
- Leia is of mixed descent. She is half Japanese from her father side and half Brazilian from her mother’s side.
- Hyeme was a model for Maxim Korea. Hyeme was the only member from Rania to debut with BlackSwan. However, soon after their debut, Hyeme left the group after a fraud scandal.
- Fatou is the tallest member of Blackswan with a height of 173 cm (5’8”).
Facts
- At first they were the 3rd generation of the Baby V.O.X. group, but later their agency decided to debut them as RaNia.
- They were initially scheduled to debut in mid-2010, but for various reasons their debut was delayed until April 2011.
- Chinese actress and model Sarah Wang was a member of the group, but she left before the group’s debut and was replaced by Chinese trainee Yijo.
- Joy, Riko, Jooyi, Di, T-ae, Xia, Saem and Yijo were the original lineup of the group, so DR Music released teaser images with the 8 members before the debut, however when Dr. Feel Good’s MV was released member Yijo was not included in the MV, many fans believed that the reasons why she did not appear in the MV was because she got sick during the filming of the video, but she did not appear in the live performances either, however her voice can be heard in the group’s debut album.
- Two months after the release of Dr Feel Good the group made their comeback with the release of their first Digital Single ‘Masquerade’ in which Yijo was also not included.
- No statement was ever released explaining why Yijo was never included in the group’s debut and first comeback.
- Yijo left the group in May 2011 just 1 month after the debut.
- The group almost always tried to debut in the United States, but their debut never materialized.
- For the comeback with ‘POP POP POP POP’, member Joy was absent from some of the group’s promotions as her father’s house was flooded in Thailand, but her official departure from the group was not until June 2012.
- For the comeback with the song ‘STYLE’ member Jooyi was not present as she was on a personal project but DR Music assured that she was still a member of the group and would return to RaNia in the next comeback.
- For the comeback with Just Go, member Riko was not present so DR Music announced that she would be leaving the group to focus on her studies.
- Saem and Jooyi’s official departure was confirmed in November 2015 when the group made comeback with 3 new members: Alexandra, Hyeme and Seulji. and with the song Demonstrate.
- Alexandra is the first African-American woman to be a member of a K-Pop group.
- Fatou is the second woman of African descent to be part of a K-Pop group.
- Di, T-ae and Xia were the last members of the group’s original lineup to leave RaNia, they left the group and the agency in May 2016 after their contract with the company expired and they decided not to renew it.
- After the departure of Di, T-ae and Xia, it was announced that Alexandra would be the new leader of the group. She was the first African-American woman to be the leader of a K-Pop group.
- For the comeback with Start a Fire they decided to add 3 new members: TtaBo (former member of Miss Mass group), Jieun (former member of LPG group) and trainee Yumin.
- On December 30, 2016, they changed the group name from RaNia to BP Rania.
- In mid-January it was announced that Jieun will be the other leader of the group, so the group has two leaders, Jieun and Alexandra.
- Saem re-entered the group in December 2016 under the name Yina.
- During the promotions of “Start A Fire” Alexandra did not dance all the choreography with the other members she only danced when she rapped her parts of the song.
- DR Music informed that Jieun is the leader only when the group promotes in Korea and Alexandra is the leader of the group when they do activities outside Korea.
- They promoted the song “Make Me Ah” with Alexandra participating in all the choreography with the other members.
- They plan their next comeback for August 8 with the song “Beep Beep Beep Beep” which is unlike any other comeback of the group.
- After Alexandra’s retirement from the group, all the raps were left under Ttabo’s charge.
- For the Malaysia and Brazil tour they re-recorded the songs “Dr. Feel Good”, “Style” and “Demonstrate”.
- It is the first K-Pop group with an African member.
- Prior to their debut, they were featured in a Channel A report in September, where it was mentioned that their agency was about to go bankrupt and that preparations for the debut were underway but they were having difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
