Fun Facts
- In the original formation of the group, the group consisted of: Jaekyung, Rana, Bini, Lee Sam, Eunji, Sera, Euaerin, Hyemi and Minha. Hyemi is currently the only original member of the group.
- After her debut, JaeKyung was dismissed from the group as the CEO of the company believed she lacked passion for music, some time later she focused on her modeling career and was replaced by Hyuna who since before the group made its debut, was preparing to replace a member which the one they had in mind was Euaerin.
- At first the CEO was worried because the girls had not had the reaction he expected, and were harshly criticized for being sexy, they were compared to Girl’s Generation and also faced criticism that they were models rather than singers, since the initial concept of Nine Muses is that they were all Idol’s Model, to turn off the criticism of the latter the CEO thought it was a good idea to change some members so Hyuna and Kyungri arrived.
- Sera in the Pre-Debut era, she was removed from leadership because the directors felt she lacked character, as the members got into a lot of trouble in which she was always blamed, in the debut the leader was Rana.
- Bini and Rana had taken a supposed hiatus, although the reality is that Bini was changed by Kyungri since like Jaekyung they felt she had a lack of passion, Rana for her part got bored of being the leader and always taking responsibility for the group’s mistakes plus she felt that the outlook was not good for Nine Muses since at those times they had many anti-fans, so like the management they doubted the group.
- Bini alerted fans to the career change via her personal mini-website, as she wrote, “I don’t have red hair anymore.”
- When Bini and Rana left the group, Euaerin also left to pursue his dream and go to Japan, but three months later he rejoined the group.
- After the promotional period of “Figaro” started, Star Empire planned to change the name of the group to “Sweet Candy” because they would confuse people, as they did not have 9 members.
- The girls said that when they recorded “Figaro” they heard ghosts in the studio (it is said that if you hear ghosts in the studio the song will be successful).
- For the promotional photos of “Figaro“, Euaerin was posing in a bikini, but it was decided not to include her in the promotions because she was too daring. Some time later the photo was uploaded to the internet which upset Euaerin and made her very nervous due to the negative comments she received.
- They had a long Hiatus after Figaro due to the CEO needing to focus on other groups, the group had lost the credibility of their agency’s directives and they needed to train Kyungri, this time was hard as the money they earned was often not enough for the members to pay their debts plus they felt the agency was going to make them disband the group at any time.
- Their song “News” was first performed on Mnet M! Countdown, and was criticized for being too “sexy”, although it also received attention from the public managing to be the longest promotion Nine Muses had had up to that time.
- “Ticket” was chosen as the favorite song among the military at that time, plus it enjoyed popularity as well as “News” so it was a comeback with the shortest time finished after the promotion of the previous single as the agency had regained hope in the group after News even though Nine Muses still had no reason to perform a comeback.
- Initially “Dolls” was to be given to another group, as it was not the right time for 9Muses to make comeback when the song was produced, but when that group rejected “Dolls” Sweetune gave the song back to 9Muses as he thought that song suited them better.
- “Dolls” has been the highest Peak single in the real time charts that Nine Muses has had so far, enjoyed quite a lot of popularity and carried with it three comebacks in a row in a single year plus new member Sungah who like Kyungri and Vicky (Ex Dal Shabet) were contemplated at the beginning to be part of Nine Muses.
- 9Muses originally had 14 potential members, but when the group’s name was announced, the company selected the nine members best prepared to debut.
- On July 24, 2013, it was revealed that the vehicle carrying five of the 9Muses and their director collided with a truck in a tunnel on the Joongbu Expressway.
- After three years since their debut, they released their first album titled ‘PRIMA DONNA’, making their comeback on October 14, with the title track “GUN“.
- During a Music Bank special, the girls would perform a cover of Park Ji Yoon so they decided to dress the same as the original singer, but the program thought the costumes were too provocative so they had to change them.
- On January 29, 2014, it was announced that Lee Samand Eunji would be leaving the group to pursue other solo areas, initially Eunji wanted to become more popular than the other members in order to have a solo career while Leesam always liked acting.
- On June 23, 2014 it was announced on the group’s fancafe, the official departure of Sera, announcing a new beginning for her since she had long wanted to pursue a solo career but the Nine Muses Ceo did not allow her to do so.
- They made a mini-program about them and their daily life called 9MUSES CAST where from the official Youtube channel they released an episode every two weeks or so.
- Following the release of the second teaser image for the comeback with “DRAMA“, this one featured the girls plus the two new members of the group, who unlike the others posed showing their backs.
- At 12:00 noon, the identities of the new members were revealed and it turned out to be one of them Sojin, member of the trio Nasty Nasty, which was always contemplated to be part of Nine Muses but the agency wanted to add more mystery to the new member.
- They have had problems with the choreography of “DRAMA“, since it was classified as too daring to be shown in public, so the company was forced to change it.
- For the promotional period of DRAMA, Euaerin was the leader of the group, but for the promotional period of Hurt Locker, the leadership was handed over to HyunAh.
- They participated in a Dream Concert for the first time in 2015, 5 years after their debut.
- Eu Ae Rin Co-wrote two songs on her new album (S/S album).
- Star Empire Entertainment introduced Sojin as a ‘dancer’ and since then fans consider her to be a lead dancer, although it is unclear.
- Many anti-fans accuse the Nine Muses of having surgery, but Star Empire Entertainment is a company that does not allow its idols to have surgery. The well-known Hwang Kwang Hee had to leave the company because of his nose job and was reinstated after begging on his knees. On the other hand, the Nine Muses are runway and magazine models and therefore cannot have cosmetic surgery.
- Although the agency has not introduced the leader, both the members and the fans consider Hyuna as the leader, just as it happened with Sera at the time since she had never been given back her leadership but the fans and the other members saw it that way.
- Tickets for their first concert were sold out in just 10 minutes.
- Member Hyemi is the only member of the group’s original lineup.
- Even after the departure of several members, they have proven to still have a great bond of friendship among all of them.
- Sungah is the only inactive member so she does not participate in Remember promotions or Love City.
- Performed the Love City choreography in 2x faster at a fanmeeting.
- In the MWAVE voting, the album Remember came in the top 15 with a total of 833 votes.
- On September 3, 2017, former member Moon Hyuna got married and gathered former and current members together in a private wedding.
- They will be preparing a world tour with a renowned agency, which has worked with artists such as K.A.R.D and Monsta X, fans will have to propose different cities for the tour on the company’s website, My Music Taste.
- The female idol athlete teams that made it to the bowling finals were Umji and Sowon of GFRIEND and Kyungri and Hyemi of 9MUSES at the 2018 Idol Star Athletics Championships, 9MUSES won gold after scoring 127 over GFRIEND’s 122.
- They were working on an album at the time of its dissolution, the reasons why Hyemi, Kuem Jo and Sojin left the agency in February 2019, are unknown
